Hi, I'm Saverio.
Software developer & Splunk engineer. I turn data into answers, and build the tools I wish existed.
At work I help teams in the financial sector make sense of their data: getting it into Splunk, shaping it, and turning it into searches, dashboards and alerts that people rely on every day. Outside work I build small, carefully made tools for problems I run into myself, and I write about what I learn along the way.
What I do
Splunk engineering. I design and look after Splunk solutions end to end, from bringing data in to the dashboards and alerts at the other end. The goal is always the same: the right people see the right information quickly, and can trust it.
Software development. I’ve worked across the whole life cycle (analysis, design, building, testing and maintenance) as well as IT administration and project management. What I care about most is software that quietly does its job and keeps doing it.
Tools that make work easier. I built Model View, a tool for managing data models and producing technical and business documentation from them, so documentation stays in step with the real system instead of drifting away from it.
Side projects. My latest is Roamkeeper, an iPhone app that shows what’s left of your roaming allowance on your Home Screen. It’s private by design: no account, no server, nothing leaves the phone.
How I work
- Quality is part of the job, not a phase. I’m an ISTQB-certified tester, and it shows: I write tests for the parts where a silent mistake would cost someone time or money.
- Small steps, shared early. As a Certified Scrum Master I like short feedback loops and working closely with the people who’ll actually use what I build.
- Privacy and security by default. Collect less, keep it local where possible, and be honest about limitations.
What I write about
Practical online security (password managers, keeping accounts safe, sensible habits), the tools I use, and the projects I’m building. If something took me a while to figure out, I write it up so it takes you less time.
